La Polverira Fiera was written by L.E.McCullough, Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Austin, Texas - and a fine whistle-tootler, to boot. The official translation of the title is “The Fiery Little Powder-Puff”, but a Spanish speaker of our acquaintance has suggested that the phrase may have more unsavoury connotations. Kelso... was written by Bob Liddell; we learned it from the LP “Harthope Burn”
by Will Atkinson, Willie Taylor and Joe Hutton.
